Today’s Guest Writer is Susan Kraemer, who attended the recent Doorway to Discovery Silent Retreat and shared her poem called “Frost” with us. It speaks to the despair many of us find ourselves in, and shows how God can work in the midst of our pain.
Frost
Deep in the fog
Vision is lost—
We cannot see Him creating the frost
In our confusion,
Vainly we scan—
We cannot see Him unfolding His plan
Silence is deaf’ning,
But He hears our cries;
Speaks to our spirit and opens our eyes
Sudden and swift,
Patterns appear;
What He’s been doing becomes crystal clear
Such imperceptible beauty’s been wrought;
Wide-eyed now we wonder,
Prepared to be taught
Needle by needle
The pattern’s arranged,
Deep in the fog
Our world has been changed!
It takes a fog to make a frost. As you walk through seasons of cloudy uncertainty, may God grant you the patience and perseverance to believe He is living and active. May your eyes be enlightened to behold the carefully arranged details of His handiwork on all His creation—especially you—His beloved child.
